COLFORT WILL BE BACKED

The convincing manner in which Colfort won the hack seven furlongs at the recent Levin Meeting left the impression that this Australian-bred colt is going to prove a big stake-earner this season, and he should be seen to further advantage at the Woodville Meeting. He is down to contest the Whariti Hack Handicap, in which he has been weighted at 8.6, and, as he has already shown promise of getting a distance, he should be one of the most difficult to beat. As a yearling Colfort was purchased by his present owner, Mr. W. Devon, for 1000 guineas, and in the interim he has recouped him to the extent of £170. Judging by the impressive manner of his latest victory, however, it should not be long before the total is further augmented.
