TALKS TO CHILDREN

VISITS TO ALL SCHOOLS

It is not proposed to bring school children into the city for any special demonstration, partly because the schools are busy with examinations and partly because safety practices are not well taught in mass formation in city streets. The Education Board and the Transport Department and City Traffic Office are co-operating fully and during the week the schools will be visited by traffic experts and talks will be given and safety practices illustrated. The Wellington Education Board has taken the lead in the school campaign, and, in association with the Transport Department, some months ago appointed a full-time officer who visits the schools to instruct children and staffs by talks and films. The "School Journal" also has regular features dealing with accident prevention and a series of special posters has been prepared for the schools.
