ANNUAL REUNION
Accommodated in their ne./ hall, the Ngaio returned soldiers held their annual reunion on Saturday night, and the eventful day in the history of the auxiliary was finished up very successfully. Mr. A. L. Franks, chairman of the auxiliary, presided over an attendance of "about seventy. On the toast list was "Our Clubroom and the Building Committee," and the proposer, Mr. D. Clark,, took the opportunity of paying special tribute to what had been done by the Ngaio returned soldiers in setting themselves up in a new home. Suitable replies were made by Messrs. J. Paul and T. Lomas. Other toasts honoured were: "The King"; "Absent Comrades"; "The Wellington R.S.A." (proposed by Mr. W. L. Scadden and replied to by the chairman); and "Sister Auxiliaries" (by Mr. C. L. Mills, Messrs. E. Symonds, Johnsonville, and A. Cooper, Kilbirnie, replying). A humorous interlude was supplied by Mr. D. N. Lawrence, who related some incidents, arising mostly from the efforts of "unskilled labour," that had occurred during the period that the clubroom was being constructed. Items were given by Messrs. Stevens, Thompson, and Nicholls, and added enjoyment was provided by a piano-accordion orchestra. A description of a visit to France*
