AT KILBIRNIE

Second elevens of the Wellington Cricket Association and Mercantile League met at Kilbirnie Park, and the match resulted in an easy win for the Association team. On a pitch which was a little uncertain after the early morning rain, the League .was dismissed for the disappointing total of 94. Boon (27) and Davies (26) gave bright displays, but did not receive much assistance from their colleagues, of whom Kilby (12) and Dykes (12 not out) were the only others to make double figures. Crawford ran through the "tail" and came out with the fine figures of four for 10. When the Association team batted, some fast scoring took place, and when Ongley was dismissed 189 runs were on the board and only 90 minutes had been taken in running up that total. When stumps were drawn the score had been taken to 283 for the loss .of only four wickets. Ongley (77), Kemp (109 retired), Crawford (31), and Bain (24 not out) all batted very brightly and some big hitting was indulged in. Kemp hit thirteen 4's and four 6's in his good knock. Ongley scored at a very fast pace for 4,5 minutes and hit nine 4's and two 6's. Details:— MERCANTILE LEAGUE. First Innings. Kilby, b Boyes 12 Boon, cR.
