scored in Auckland cricket when the fifth series of games was begun, W. W. Wallace making 158 and A. J. Postles 111. Grafton, first innings 226 (N. Ellis 40, G. Wallace 63; D. R. Garrard five for 61., L. B. Shnauer four for 66), met University, first innings 43 for one. Parnell, first innings 236 (Wallace 158; E. McNabb five for 99, G. R. Childs three for 25), met Pon-sonby-Balmoral, first innings 21 for three. Eden,.first innings 325 (Postles 111, Cantlay 46, McMahon 66; J. B. Stevenson three for 61), met V.M.C.A.North Shore, first innings 148 (C. G. Walters 58; D. C. Cleverley four for 54, F. M. Andrews three for 42), met Middlemore, first innings 100 for three (H. T. Christchurch.—The fifth round of the Canterbury Cricket Association's competitions started in fine weather. Overnight rain had affected the wickets slightly but was no excuse for the small scores in some cases. Features of the day were a brilliant century by Kerr for West Christchurch against Old Collegians and the hattrick by H. Davis for East Christchurch against St. Albans. In the* same match -E. Mullock took eight for 41 for St. Albans. Old Boys, 166 (Anderson 41, Eathorne 41, Harbidge 35, Butterfield three for 40, Oliver two for 8. Spong two for 36), met Sydenham, 92 for two (Walsh not out 64). St. Albans 101 (Webb 30; Davis four for 25, Patrick four for 23) and 65 for one (MeCann 29 not out), met East Christchurch, 74 (Mulcock eight for 41, Scott two for 13). West Christchurch 289 (Kerr 103, Burton 61 Gregory 47, Donnelly 38, Lester five for 54) met .Old Collegians, 31 for none. Riccarton, 66 (Bull 41, Read three for 12, Bellamy two for 8) and 69 for two (Jacobs 29), met Lancaster Park, 219 for six declared (Cromb 68, Dryden 50, Roberts two for 21, Hay three for 77). Duncdin.—Rain put a sudden stop to grade cricket at about 4 o'clock. Carisbrook was the only team to get an eight-point win. Carisbrook dismissed University for 110 and declared with 218 for five wickets. University's second innings produced only 87 (Uttley 27, Dunning four for 39, Moloney four for 36). Old Boys, 2P2 (Payne 53, Groves 26), beat Grange, 149 and 111 for five wickets (Leader four for 30, Henderson 58, Elmes 22). Kaikorai, 162 for eight (Talbot 52, Cherry 35), beat Albion, 121. Dunedin, 183 (Kerr eight for 65), beat Carisbrook B, 116.
