END-OF-YEAR SOCIAL
BELMONT WOMEN'S l
INSTITUTE
A pleasant afternoon was spent in the Wesley Hall, Lower Hutt, recently, when the Belmont Women's Institute held a special social afternoon. Mesdames Gibson-Young, Payne, and Thompson were in charge of the programme. This opened with the Alicetown choir singing a bracket of two numbers, "Rendezvous" and "Dream Minuet." Christmas carols, conducted by Mrs. Gibson-Young, were enjoyed. An amusing play, "Saving Her Face," came next, two members of the Belmont. drama circle, Mesdames Graydon and Middleton, taking the parts. Two carols by the Alicetown choir, "Come and Worship" and "Sleep.JHoly Baby," were followed by a rendering of "Silent Night" by Mrs. Jones and Miss Dick. A mime, "Bluebeard," was well acted, Mrs. Gibson-Young narrating the story. A delicious afternoon tea was served.
