AUSTRIAN REFUGEES
NEW PLYMOUTH SPONSORS

NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day
In response to appeals, rive refugees from,, Central Europe will be sponsored by three New Plymouth citizens, who have undertaken that the persons named, if they come to New Zealand, will not become a charge on the State for a given period. The refugees'are Austrians who have been the victims of terrorism that makes it impossible for them to remain in the land of their birth.
Among the five are a dentist and his wife. He has been 18 years in practice at Vienna. Another man was for more than 20 years employed as a locksmith in a large manufacturing concern, and the remaining two members of the party are women who have been employed in clerical dnd secretarial work.
The thi'ee New Plymouth sponsors are Miss D. N. Allan, principal of the Girls' High School, Archdeacon G. H. Gavin, and Mr. W. C. Weston.
