LONDON, December 1.

The Hong Kong correspondent of "The Times" says that refugees from the district report the Japanese retirement from the Hong Kong border, but they hesitate to return home.

The Japanese face opposition in South Shansi which threatens to hold up the drive towards Sian. Traffic on the Lunghai railway, which has been a Japanese bbjective for months past, is not yet stopped. A quarter of a million Chinese oppose the Japanese advance to North Honan.
