Punarua and Yours Truly Vere together at the end of their work. Royal Star II has done a deal of long, solid pacing lately and he has thrived on it. " Sigurd (A. G. P. Newnham) finished up his work this morning by running the last three furlongs on the plough in 37sec and doing it well. Good Sun (R. L. Hitchen) ran the last Half-mile of his twa rounds in 52sec> Lady Lyric (R. A. Hawkings) and Acrobat (S. G. Robinson) took-53sec for a comfortable half-mile.' White Lady (A. Sagar), after being led to; the six furlongs, came home from that mark under-a good hold in lniin 26sec. Twenty Grand (Hawkings) T drew , right away from War "Cloud (Robinson) at the end of six furlongs in -lmin 19sec, the last half-mile in 54sec. War Cloud would not gallop at all, but Twenty Grand responded when required. Twenty Grand, who is improving steadily at present, is to be raced for the first time over nine furlongs at Otaki on Saturday. ( Most of the-other work" was on the grass. Lustral (A. Foster) and Floral Robe (A. E. Bennet) were haif a length ahead'of Quimpe'r (P. Lamb) were on terms a couple of lengths in front of Twilight Song (D. W. Bush) after five furlongs in lmin 6sec, the last half-mile in 52 3-ssec. Wakarara (R. Hawes), Gay Hunting (J. Nicholson), and • Pharisee (V. Bevan) were strung out in that order after running three furlongs in 37sec. Sunbeam (Hawes) did a mile alone in lmin 46sec. the last half-mile in 54 sec." Lady Baron (Fennet) ran on. better than, usual in beating . Coronado (W. Doyle) and Cherokee (Lamb) easily over five furlongs in lmin 3 4-ssec, the last half-mile in 51sec. Dungarvan (A. W. Sim) went well when always ■. leading Daregain (Foster) over half a mile1 in 49sec. ~ - : . Among those who did strong pace work were Galteemore, Alunga, Mother-in-Law, Beauly, and Drachma. Golden Hawk and Bisect were sprinted ' down the straight. Dancing Flame and the two-year-old Counter Lunch were among the later workers. Riding • engagements' for Saturday include:—S. Among the * horses whose riders are not yet settled are Punarua, Yours Truly, Dancing Flame, Acrobat, and Twenty Grand. Most of Telford's riding will probably be done by P. Atkins.
