ORATORY CONTEST
RONGOTAI COLLEGE
_ ft The standard of both junior and senior speakers was high, and the variety, of subjects chosen had been done justice, said Mr. W. J. Scott, MA., who judged the annual Rongotai College oratory contest on Tuesday evening.
The patron of the College Dialectic Society, Mr.- F. Martyn Renner, thanked Mr. Scott for judging the con-r test.
The results were:—
Senior: G. L. Tucker, 1; R. E. Stroobant, 2. Junior: R. Cox, 1; A. Bruca. 2.
Speakers and'their subjects were:— Junior (Ballard Cup).—R. Cox ("Marco Polo"), J. R. Hayman ("James Watt"); B. F. Renner ("Kemal Pasha"); L. J. Fitzgerald ("Thomas Masaryk"); A. Bruce ("Nelson").
Senior (Burge Cup).—T. K. C. Moody ("Toussaint"); A. Q. Bruce ("Charles Dickens"); W. H. B. Eas-terbrook-Smith ("Amundsen"); R. E. Strbobant ("Bligh"); R. Allender ("Edward VIII"); G. L. Tucker ("Captain Oates").
