NEW POST OFFICE
NEWTOWN NEED SUPPLIED
An announcement that plans were being prepared for a new and up-to-date Post Office for Newtown was made by Mr. R. McKeen, Labour candidate seeking re-election for Wellington Esouth, in his speech at an openair meeting of electors at Island Bay last night. Mr. McKeen said that property in ftiddiford Street comprising a shop and several dwellings in Hall Street had been acquired to permit of the erection of a modern building fronting the Newtown School and extending back to Hall Street. Accommodation at the present Post Office was extremely cramped because of the growth of the telephone exchange.
