MR. FRASER EXPLAINS
"First let me say that I notice that certain protests have been made about the Government sending round to every householder a pamphlet outlining the social security scheme," said the Minister of Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) at Blenheim, says the "Marlborough Express."
"National Party speakers have been advised to ask questions as "to how the pamphlet came to be sent out, who printed it, and who paid for its distribution, the intention rpparently being to make it appear that the Government had been taking an unfair advantage. Well, in 'answer to possible premeditated questions, the pamphlet was issued by the Government, it is paid for by the Government, and distributed by the Government. It has been sent out as a medium for informing the people fully of the provisions and benefits of the scheme and the Act which has been passed—and they are entitled to the information." (Applause.)
