NOTES FROM THE CLUBS

The following members of the Petone Ladies' Club were successful in the club aggregate, i which covered the scores for twenty-two weeks:—Grade Al: Hiss Scott 1, Mrs. Braid 2. Grade A 2: Mrs. Scott 1, Mrs. Hobbs 2. Grade B: Miss Z. Hobbs 1, Miss Bradley 2. l Members of the inter-club match team were recently entertained by the club. Mr. and Mrs. A. V. G. Wilson and Mr. Hobbs (supervisor) were present Mrs. Wilson presented the shield to Miss N. Gregory, captain of the team, and congratulated the team on its success and the-good scores registered. HUTT VALLEY LADIES' CLUB. Very good attendances still continue on the Hutt Valley Ladies' range. During the next few weeks all club aggregates will be finalised. The fourth series competition, A grade, Mr. McKercher's trophy, was won by Mrs. May, and the club trophy by Mrs. Frost. In the B grade Mr. Fahey's trophy was won by Mrs. Henderson, and the club trophy by Miss Wale. The following are the four leading competitors in the "Parsonage" 10-shot own start competition after four shoots:—Mrs. Nicholas 396, Mrs. Parrant 395. Mrs. Ffrost 393, Mrs. May 389. H.V. FRONTIERSMEN. Last Thursday the Hutt Valley Frontiersmen held a social evening in the Drill Hall, Petone. The order of the night was a live-shot match and a bowls tournament. The guests were the I Harbour Board Club and members of the .Odd- i fellows' Lodge. It was a very interesting I match. The Frontiersmen won, the scores being :—Frontiersmen, 338 (350) ; Harbour Board, 330; Oddfellows, 299. Posisblea were got by E. Sheehan (Harbour Board) and J. Morlson (H.V. Frontiersmen). The individ«ial scores were:— Frontiersmen.—J. Morrison 50, F. Davtes 49, J. Trigger 49. J. White 48, M. Parrant 43, E. Parrant 4", C. Jansen 47. Harbour Board.—E. Sheehan 50, R. H. XHiol 48, J. Kemp 48, T. McGill 47, L. Thomas 46, C. Jendcn 46, J. Stephens 45. Oddfellows.—J. Mills 45, M. Ames 44, W. Tito 43, Kneeborn 43,' F. Apperley 43, S. Smith 41, C. Brown 40. The Oddfellows won the bowls tournament by two games to the Frontiersmen's one and Harbour Board's none. Mr. Henderson thanked all present for coming along and helping- to make the evening enjoyable. Cheers were given for the visitors. Mr. Nlchol (Harbour Board) and Mr. Brown (Oddfellows) responded. MUNICIPAL CLUB. A great deal of interest was manifest during the past month at the Municipal Club, it being the final series for the championships. The principal scores were:—Section 1: L. Anderson 278, ti. Henesy 276. Section 2 : J. Jenkins 273, F. Williams 269. Section 3: C. Westwood 260, C. Boocock 25D. The lian-dt-ap scores were:—Section 1: L. Anderson 278 (scr), G. Henesy 278 (scr). Section 2: J. Jenkins 275, (1). F. Williams 272 (1) Section 3: C. Westwood 270 (6), C. Boocock 275 (7). SOUTH CLUB., The championship and handicap aggregate of the South Club for the 1938 series has been completed except for one or two individual make-up shoots, which, however, cannot affect the result. The championship was won by R. Congreve with a score of 1359. This is the third time in succession that Congreve has secured the championship cup. The runner-up was H. V. Smith, who finished a close second with 1354. ' ' ,„' The ladies' championship was won by Miss F.. Stratford with 1313. Mrs. Crcswell was runner-up. The handicap aggregate, taking the president's trophy, was won by P. Martin. 3 31a, 47 1362. For second place, vice-president s trophy there was a tic between D. McGinnity, 1304, 55—1359, and C. Morris, 1201. 68—1359. This will be shot oft tonight. The September competitions resulted as follows : _a grade: H. V. Smith 207 and W. T. ICreswell 207. a tie. B grade: W. Ryan, 201. 6 _207; l>. Bird, IS7, 20—207; and 1.. Congreve, 181, 26—207, tied. The ties will be decided tonight. The L.M.R.C. certificate goes to C. Morris. Possible honours were obtained by H. V. Smith (2) and W. Ryan.
