CONSTANT ACTIVITIES

Special mention of the splen&id work local committees are doing in' support of their local branches was made at a recent meeting of th 3 Free Kindergarten Council.

During the month Mrs. Victor Lloyd held a dramatic evening at.the Thespian Theatre in. aid of Wellington South. This proved a great success, and Mrs. Lloyd was warmly thanked for her help and interest. A guessing competition had just been finalised at Newtowri, and plans were well in hand for holding a jumble sale on a large scale. Petone reported the holding of a ball, the result of which had more than met the committee^ expectations. Towards the end of next week. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gibbons's grounds will be open to the public in support of kindergarten activities at Petone. • This is the third year' Mr. and Mrs. Gibbons hava i=o generously assisted the association in this way.. A "Paddy's Market," which proved a great success, has been the chief effort at Ngaib. Berhampore reported preparations for the holding of the annual bazaar, and in the meantime smaller efforts are being organised. Miramar lias also arranged to hold a sale of work next month. This committee still continues to show the same enthusiasm that has been so evident in that district since the Kindergarten commenced.

During the month the council had held a jumble sale which resulted in over £27' being .' raised. Plans arc well in.hand'for the. '!End of the.Year" effort, which will b a hold at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Sutherland this- month.- Many "interesting dolls are being le: I for ' an; exhibit which will prove of great interest to guests. A puppet show is being arranged by Mrs. Heymann, and a Christmas gift stall will' solve. many _. Christmas, problems. Members of the. > women's auxiliary will "again co-operate with the council and are organising a cake stall.
