SUFFERED FROM SORENESS
Dunstan was unable to do himself justice in the Kurow Cup owing to bruising a heel on the eve of the meeting. As he appeared to be only slightly lame on the Friday, it was decided to send him to Kurow, his owner's instructions being not to race him unless the stipendiary steward considered him fit for the ordeal. He was given a special preliminary before the time for saddling up, and as he pulled up without showing any effects, it was decided to run him. He pulled very hard for the first few furlongs, but then began to drift, and when called on for an effort in the straight he could not carry on. On this form he can be struck out of calculations for the Dunedin Guineas.
