Pressure has remained high in. the north and over the'Tasman Sea and low in the vicinity of Chatham Island. Consequently, except tor local north-westerlies east of the ranees, moderate south-westerly winds have predominated. The last portion of a westerly depression which was crossing the Korth Island yesterday gave light rain over an area bounded by New Plymouth, iauranga, and Auckland, and.there have been scattered showers on the west coast or the South Island, but otherwise the weather has been fair to fine. In eastern districts temperatures were warm yesterday and otherwise, hay« been mild. *■ r
