Gift Parties.
Several parties have been given recently in honour of Miss Joyce Rosenberg, whose marriage to Mr. Peter Harvey, formerly of Christchurch and now of Palmerston North, is to take place on Saturday at All Saints' Church, Kilbirnie. Mrs. David Murray gave a linen -tea, Miss Nola Williams, a bridesmaid, a gift evening, Mesdames Philpott and Buckmaster a pantry tea, and Mesdames Auld and Hose a kitchen tea. Catholic Seamen Entertained.
A very enjoyable evening was held recently at the A.M.I.C. rooms, Vivian Street. There were a large number of seamen present, as there were several ships in port, and all thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment provided for them. Those who contributed items were Mrs. Treacy (songs) and Miss Hazel Martin's pupils (dances). Some of the visitors gave great pleasure with songs also, and community singing was enjoyed by all. Supper was served by the ladies' committee, and the singing of the National Anthem brought a very happy time to a close. Dance for Cathedral Fund. A very successful dance in aid of the Cathedral Fund was held by the parishioners of All Saints Church, Kilbirnie, on Friday night. Bright decorations, a good orchestra, and an appetising supper served by the members, all contributed towards the enjoyment of the evening. Those who organised the dance were Mrs. Langstone, Mrs. Cadwallader, Miss Emerson, Miss G. N. Smith, Miss Nola Binnie, and Messrs. McCaul, Sanderson, and Burgess. A Farewell Party, Mrs. Walter Grey entertained Mrs. Vernon Sutherland, who is one of the hostesses of the Wellington Travel Club, and her daughter Joyce, who are about to leave for an extended tour of Australia, at a dinner and theatre party, and again at a picture party. The ladies of the Wellington Travel Club committee were also present. Dickens Fellowship. The Dickens Fellowship has acquired new premises in Druids' Chambers, Woodward Street, and an informal social evening has been arranged to enable members to become acquainted with the new rooms this evening at 8 o'clock. W.D.F.TJ. Advisory BoardMrs. J. C. Wickham. (Wanganui), Dominion president of the women's division of the N.Z. Farmers' Union, is visiting Wellington in connection with a meeting of the Dominion Advisory Board of that organisation. While in Wellington Mrs. Wickham will be staying at the Windsor. Other officials attending the advisory board meeting are Mrs. C. C. Jackson (Masterton), Mrs. Noel Adams (Clevedon, Auckland), Mrs. W. H. Lane (Kaeo, North Auckland), Mrs. N. Mclntosh (Invercargill), Mrs. W. F. Field (Palmerston North), Mrs. J. A. Harris (Turakina).
