LOCAL CHAMPIONSHIP

A high standard of snooker was reached at Billiards, Ltd.'s, premises last night, when further games in the Wellington provincial championship were played. •■■•■■•.-• In the first match between L; Moffatt (St. George) and R. M. Atkin (G.P.O. Social), Atkin started off well. .However, his advantage was only' temporary, and Moffatt, who gave as bright an exhibition as yet. seen in ..the-tour-nament, took the lead and held it convincingly. The first round ended 56-32, and the second 110-66 in Moffatt's favour.

E. W. Barnes (Windsor) and A. Thomas* (Victory) played: two very close games. Both have a sound knowledge of tactics, and made no.opportunities for their opponents, Until the last two balls if ;was anyone's game. The final score was Thomas 96, Barnes 83. The last game of the evening was between R. B." Stuart (Petone Working Men's dub) -and- D. Mackenzie (Wellington Working Men's Club). Stuart got in with a couple of leaves and drew away, 'finishing, the first round 69-31. The final scores were Stuart 118, Mackenzie 62. - " The games were refereed by Mr. J.
