BUTTER MARKET
PRICES UNCHANGED
By arrangement with the Primary Products Marketing Department the following information of the London butter and cheese markets is supplied by the Dairy Board:— New Zealand 8 salt butter, maximum quotation, 116s per cwt; Australian, 114s; Danish, spot, 135s to 1365; Latvian, 112s; Polish, 110s; Estonian, 112s: Lithuanian, 112s. Unsalted butter: New Zealand, 118s; Australian, life; Dutch, 112s; Argentine, 112s; Estonian and Lithuanian, 112s. Retail prices of New Zealand and Danish butters are Is 3d and Is 4d per lb, respectively. The Imperial Economic Committee has estimated that stocks of all butters in Store on October 1 were 1,175,234 boxes, against 594,918 boxes at the corresponding date of last year. The cheese market supports 72s per cwt for Canadian and New Zealand white and coloured, with 80s for Canadian old season's. Australian white and coloured are quoted 69s to 70s; South African, 69s to 70s for coloured, and 71s to 72s for white. English farmers' finest cheese is quoted 88s to 90s per cwt; and English factory, 68s to 695. New Zealand cheese is selling retail at 9d per lb.
