The Archbishop of Canterbury announced that he proposes to summon in the middle of October a conference of representatives of Christian opinion to consider the need for a new endeavour to remove the root causes of unrest and war and to rebuild on. the basis of international justice and peace. No decision has yet been taken to relax the precautionary measures for national defence. It will be some time before they are completely reversed. In connection with these measure! the classified register of doctors compiled by the British Medical Association is so arranged that, any demand from the Services or for the treatment of civilian casualties could be met promptly.
