PETONE FIRE BOARD

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

During the year ended March 31 the number of calls to fires and supposed fires was 33, stated the superintendent (Mr. J. P. Gaynor) in his annual report to the meeting of. the Petone Fire Board yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Gaynor stated that the estimated loss of property not covered by insurance was: Buildings £105, contents £310. The estimated loss of property covered by insurance was: Buildings £679 10s, contents £631 10s. The insurance on property on which fires occurred was: Buildings £3950, contents £2681. The estimated value of property on which fires occurred was: Buildings £6785, contents £3615. There had been a total saving of property for the year to the value of £8674.

The personnel of the brigade was now superintendent, deputy superintendent, station officer, two foremen, two motormen, fifteen firemen. The discipline of the brigade had been fully maintained throughout the year, and attendance at drills and fires had been entirely satisfactory. The brigade was successful in again . winning the Licensed.yictuallers' Shield,. the^aldwin Shield, Camel Cup, and the Nash Cup. The Phare Cup, competed for by the brigade members, was^won by Foreman A. Shardlow. The Gaynor Cup, competed for by the Korokoro members,' was won by Fireman L. Packwood.

Mr. J f Kerr was re-elected chairman.
