CORRESPONDENCE
PROGRAMMES & ANNOUNCING
"Listener" considers that, in view of the revenue received from licence fees (said to be the highest of any country), the Government could afford to issue the weekly radio programmes at a much cheaper rate than'must now be paid by people who buy a weekly paper only to obtain the programmes. The correspondent further suggests that it would be appreciated if all announcers followed the practice, adopted by some now, of announcing items both before and after they are broadcast. Often a listener may tune in to a station when an item is in progress and wish to know the name of the [performer and the title of the work.
