The Washington correspondent of the "New York Times" sasfc it is learned that President Roosevidt's defence message, which is expecteyi to be released for publication tomorrow, will ask for increased expenditure on the army in addition to the nayy.
The amount tor the army is expected to be between 25,000,000 and 50,000,000 dollars for anti-aircraft > guns, automatic rifles, bombers, long-jange planes, and increased man-power. . - ' It is assumed that the expansion programme is directly due,-to Japan's ■course in China, with tha consequent difficulties and serious incidents that the situation has produced for the United States.
