WORK DONE UNDERGROUND
The Martha Gold Mining Company (Waihi), Ltd., reports that the principal work carried out underground during the period ended November 20, 1937, was as follows: —Martha area, No. 14 level, Edward lode, Trout Block: The drawing of excess ore from the north end is being continued. Assay .Value throughout the period was 46s /9d per ton. Martha Lode, Gin Block: Assay value of the ore drawn during the period was 20s lid per ton. No. 13 level, Martha Lode, Cow Block: All the present available ore has been recovered. The ore situated behind, the drive sets willbe shovelled up at some future time. Assay-value during the period was 17s 2d per ton. No.. 12 level, Ulster Lode, Ulster Block: Ore breaking has been carried to 59 feet ■above the level. The ore drawn during the period assayed 28s 2d per ton. No. 11 (55ft) sub-level, -Dreadnought Lode: The • drive east of bomb winze was continued to 100 feet. Assay value during the period was 12s 8d -per ibn, the width being about 5 feet. The.west drive was advanced 11 feet, making a total of 89 feet./ .'Average , assay rvalue for this length was 6s lid per ton, reef s'feet wide,- No. 11 (71ft) up level, Edward Lode: North of Pike North rise The drive was advanced 32 feet, making a total of 119 feet. The ore was of -.good grade .with from 5. to 8 feet of ' reef exposed, the east., wall only being seen. The face is now close to Salmon empty shrinkage block. The drive south of Pike North rise was advanced 14 feet, making -a total of 97 feet, and at this point a crosscut east and West is n'ijw in progress.' No. 7 level Edward Lode, west branch: The drive south-west.of Rc-ach crosscut was advanced 32 feet, making a'total of 129 feet The ore throughout the period was'of good grade, varying.from 3to 4£ feet wide. The reef is very-loose, and it is necessary to timber the drive as work' proceeds." No. 7 (50ft) up level: Martha Lode, north branch east and west ol Giddens south rise The level was heightened to 14| feetyfrom 81 feet east to 40 feet west of the rlNo 6 (46ft) Up Level—Martha lode, north branch: Driving east was commenced from Kiley rise and advanced to 104 ft. At Bft the ore is of good grade" about lft wide. Westward a total of 62Jft has been driven, the width ib about lft, the ore being of good grade No 6 level:'Giddens winze is down 58 feet. From 32 to 50ft the vein is about 'five inches wide, of good grade. .At 58ft, two small stringers only are showing. , The, drive, west of Giddens north'crosscut"'frqm^676ft point was continued to 766 ft. From 682 to 704 ft, the reef is small and irregular; _ from 704 to 753 ft, the assay value is 38s bd per ton, width about 2ft; and from 753 to 766 ft, 2ft wide, assay value 16s 6d per ton. Giddens south winze was continued 49ft, the average width of the vein about 1-Jf t. Assay . value ranged from 6s 8d to ore of high grade. Royfl is being made to ooen lip a block of ore east -of PriS South crosscut. The floor of level' is being : graded to facilitate trucking to No. 2 shaft. No. 5 level, H branch, Lovett.block: Ore breaking is" in operation at 48ft above the level. Taylor North, crosscut w|s advfnced 31ft, making a total of 82|ft. Three small leaders were intersected in this dStance. The crosscut is being continued No. 4 level,' Edward lode, east nart- The drive north of Lovett crossed was advanced to 133 ft, where wo A was stopped owing to the face of Ihe drive being close to No. 2 faft During the period the ore was of good grade varying from-2 to 5 feet wide. Lovett south-east crosscut was continued,to 171 ft A number of small veins have D een' intersected, the more important mp , being as follows—At 115 ft, lstt quartz Tomfool grade; 141 ft, 2|" quartz and country, assay, value 9s 6d»perton, 158 ft lft quartz of good grade; 164 ft, a rise at a point 115 ft west o;f Brown "Grand Junction' Ar exjunction No 7 (80ft) up" level, George lode, Ward Mock- A total of 396 tons was drawn fr»m this block during the period the assay value being 37s lOd r per ton. Waihi Co.^s No. 10 level, Ulster lode, Ulster block: <All available ore has been recovered from this block, 81 tons being shovelled up during the period assay value 18s 9d per ton Waihi Co's No. 8 level, Royal lode, No. 3 pass block: Ore breaking was in operation at 44ft above the level. During the period 74 tons were drawn off, assay value. 25s 2d per ton.
