OVERWORKED COURTS
The heavy dcnvnpour experienced at the', weekend will be a godsend to all the sports grounds in Wanganui (states "The Post's" representative), particularly to the Wanganui Tennis Club, whose courts were very worn and dry. It is said that they have never been in such a bad' way, and heavy expense on top-dressing and sowing in the autumn will be required; in fact, many of the baselines will have to be relaid. It is very questionable whether it pays the club to allow the lawns to be used for tournement purposes and for matches." The Wanganui Lawn Tennis Association has certain funds set aside to provide for association courts, and it is possible that with the Government scheme to assist sports bodies something could be done to provide, such courts, ■and thus ease the strain on'the Wangarrur Tennis Club's courts, ' ' '
