MELBOURNE,- This Day.

H.M.S.I Leander berthed at : Port Melbourne yesterday in a fierce thunderstorm; which smashed the planking on a -galley . boat arid broke crockery and fittings in mess rooms.

' The warship fought against storms in. the Tasman for more than twenty-four hours and rolled and pitched in huge seas. Two boats were torn from their lashings and "another was stove in.
