ROAD CYCLING

ANNUAL HILL CLIMB

The Poneke Amateur Cycling Club is to hold its annual hill-climbing fixture for the Ericsson Shield tomorrow afternoon. The event will be a climb of about half a mile and 50 yards, starting at the foot of Todman Street, Brooklyn, near the tram terminus, and finishing at the top of Mitchell Street. The riders will start separately. Points trophies will be allotted, and the rider who makes the fastest ascent will hold the shield. A Sealed handicap will be run in conjunction with the event K. Dutton, the present holder of the shield, will be a competitor. For the juniors there will be a fourteen miles time trial. Starting at the Central Fire Station the course will be to the railway crossing at Petone and return. The handicaps will be sealed. Both events are to start at 2.50 p.m. Afterwards competitors and officials will be entertained at afternoon tea at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.
