VALUABLE EWES LOST
WORRIED BY DOGS
CULPRITS KILLED ON SCENE

Seven valuable stud Southdown ewes were worried by dogs and died on Tuesday afternoon on Mr. P. Drummond's farm at Puketapu. Mr. Drummond fortunately arrived on the scene in time to catch the two dogs concerned, otherwise his loss would have been much greater. '
Mr. Drummond had his 3D stud ewes, which were due to lamb in August, in a paddock adjacent to the road. On returning home about 3.30 p.m. he noticed some of the ewes in a group and showing signs of agitation. Later he noticed two dogs among the The approach of Mr. Drummond and an employee did not disturb the dogs in their work and they did not desist till called off by the owners, who had been summoned by Mr. Drummond. Both dogs were immediately killed. In addition to the ewes that died two others are in such a condition that their recovery is unlikely.
