FROM THE SIDELINE
PLAYERS AND THE GAMES
'■Leslie 'was. well off form against Waterside. 'He seemed'listless and was hardly : a shadow of' his real self. Petone's vanguard missed Jiis energetic leadership.: ■:*■.,'. ' ' ~ . ,' :.
Craig and Cullen, on Petone's left, were the best of a not very good forward line. They did most of the attacking and paved the way for the scoring, though White on th£ right played well, despite his injury, and bagged two of the goals, from leftwing passes. . ■
The forwards on both sides were weak in shooting and general finishing work.
Anderson, Longbottom, and Cocks had a difficult task, and they performed it well. Had their forwards played as soundly the result of the game might well have been different. H-^:el and Bolton were fair as fullbacks, 'and VS. Ward could -not be blamed for the shots, that eluded him.
..Tanner was:' Institute's '-most outstanding forward in the game against Diamond yesterday. His: coolness in tight, corners and his skill \frith the ball at his toe are excellent assets to his side.
