"SERIES" PICTURES.
The "series" picture (not to be confused with the action serial) is the direction of swing of Hollywood's production pendulum at the moment. They are those in which one or several of the characters appear in successive releases, under a new set of dramatic circumstances. Charlie Chan was such a character! Also Philo Vance and the Thin :Manl Paramount in particular appears to be giving consideration to .this, policy.•■■., Now that studio has stories in-work.for a series of Fu Manc.hu* mysteries, in which Akim Tamiroff: will appear •as Fu; a group of Sophie Lang "Female Raffles" thrillers, probably for Gail Patrick; a sequence of stories for Lynne Overman and Roscoe Karns to continue them as they appeared as private detective' and. rep.orter-.in.' "Murder- Goes to College"..(the next will be "Murder Goes to Gaol"); more of the Bulldog Drummond series with Ray Milland in the name role; Quite naturally further Zarie Grey' outdoor 'adventure tale's with Larry Crabbe, and, of course, more and more of the ever-popular "Hopalong Cassidy" ■ action romances with Bill Boyd. ~■'.■■.'■' ■
