ACTOR SEES HIMSELF.

■ The character actor George Irving, thought, for a moment recently he was seeing a vision of the past. . A, tall youth in white breeches, polished boots, and red coat left the dressing-room ahead of him. The figure was vaguely familiar, seemed somehow to be himself. Then the actor turned and Irving recognised William Bakewell. He asked Bakewell what part he was playing and was told that of Lieutenant Spicer in "Quality Street." Irving immediately knew the reason for that-sense of familiarity. He had originated the role of Lieutenant Spicer years ago in the Broadway presentation of "Quality Street."
