CHARLEY'S AUNT CLUB

SUCCESSFUL KORERO

The "decor" at the successful korero held by the Charley's Aunt Club at the Masonic, Hall still adhered to the Coronation colours with bright and cheery effect. Tables were placed round the hall in cabaret fashion, early laburnum gave a delightful "promise of spring," and hydrangeas and chrysanthemums were among the seasonable flowers used in decorations around the room and for the tables.

The korero witnessed the revival of a real "old time" Charley's Aunt programme, this having been arranged by a sponsor of many a fine' programme formerly; Mr. Norman "' Aitken: —the original "Charley's Aunt" of the club and one of the foundation members. The numbers included some excellent ones given by Mr. H. F. Wood (also a foundation member), Messrs. Norman Aitken, Edgar Kain, Misses A. L. Cooke,, and E. Hathaway, Mr. Jim Cooke, and Mrs. Hickford. A oneact play .was given by Mr. Dudley Alexander, Mr. J. Cooke, and Miss Thornton. The orchestra 'played some good selections, and Mr. Marcus/Marks made a cheery and efficient chairman. He is an old member of the club,-and in installing him for the evening, the president (Mr. Moores) remarked on the many entertaining travel talks he had given to the club, to their great enjoyment.

A delicious .- sweets and savoury supper was served from trolleys, and dancing began with Mr. D. Tasker ( as M.C. Numerous novelty dances were enjoyed, the "cannonball" causing much amusement. Prizewinners of the various events were Mesdames Joss and H. C. Murray, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Moores, Messrs. A. L. Francis, and A. B. Zucker.
