LONDON, June 8.
What may turn out to be a serious rival of Australian wool was discovered by Mr.- Townsend, chief investigation officer of the Customs Department.
While on a visit to Czechoslovakia he inspected the premises of the Bata Shoe Company, the largest boot firm in the world. Scientists explained the development of artificial wool and rubber and claimed that the latter was more costly than natural rubber but r^jved equal in necessary qualities and definitely more durable. It was claimed that the artificial, wool, which was manufactured by a different process from the German, had all the characteristics of sheep's wool, especially regarding warmth and absorption of moisture when made into garments, and suitability for spinning and weaving. . .
