ADDINGTON STOCK SALE

CHRISTCHURCH, June 8.
The weekly Addington fat stock market was held today instead 01 tomorrow because of the King's Birthday observance. Much smaller entries were forward. Fat and store sheep improved slightly in value, but fat cattle were cheaper. The few ewes penned in the store sheep section met with a much brisker sale, making up to 32s 6d for twotooths. Two-tooth wethers sold at 21s 4d Lambs were also in better request. Only a handful of fat lambs was forward and these sold well up to schedule rates, the top price being 35s lOd. There was a moderate penning ot a little less than 4000 fat sheep, the quality being indifferent. A good sale resulted, with an advance of from Is to Is 6d for good ewes and wethers. Lighter sorts were unchanged. Best wethers made 36s to 39s lOd; heavy prime, 31s to 345; good, 27s 6d to 30s; inferior, down to 255; best ewes, 23s to 265; extra, to 31s; good, 20s to 22s 6d; ordinary, to 19s 6d. There was a very small penning 01 1330 head of fat cattle, but the market showed no improvement, values even for a small showing of good cattle being down by about 15s a head. • me sale throughout ■ was , irregular and there were instances of recent rates being maintained. Extra heavy steers madl from £13 to £13 7s 6d; good £10 10s to £12 10s; light, down_to £8 10s; best heifers £7 to £10 7s. 6d; good, £5 10s to £6 Ids; best cows, £6 10s to £9 10s; inferior, down to £4. In the fat pig section porkers were Is to 3s a head dearer. Prices ranged from 15s 6d to 53s 6d, the average price being 6d to 61d a pound. Baconers sold at 54s 6d to £4 .5s 6dthe average price a pound being 53-d to 6}d.
