STATE ADVANCES

Gai'lands of gay flowers and branches of fern leaves decorated the Mayfair Cabaret last evening for the combined annual dance of the State Advances and Land and Income Tax Departments.

A Coronation note was added to the ballroom in gold and mauve coronets and streamers draped around the or-

chestral dais, and in the Chinese lanterns, which, in varying shades of gold and blue, were arranged attractively in the bowers of leaves, giving the effect of an old-world garden.

An excellent buffet supper was provided in the blue room and the Italian room, both of which were decorated on similar lines to those of the ballroom.
