COLD SNAP IN NELSON
(Special to tha "Eveninfl Post.")
NELSON, June 6.
The heaviest fall of snow in the Nelson district for some years occurred early on Saturday afternoon when even the low hills adjacent to the town were covered. A few flakes fell in the city streets. Up to last Friday the winter in Nelson had been very mild— so mild in fact that many shrubs which flower in the spring were budding and even flowering again. The sudden change to wintry conditions was shown by the Cawthron Institute meteorological station's reports. On Thursday night the minimum temperature on the grass was 49.9 degrees, against 30.1 degrees on Friday night and 27 degrees on Saturday night.
