KARORI SCHOOL

ACCOMMODATION OVERTAXED

Although meetings of householders for the election of school committees now take place biennially, the Karoii school committee is reporting upon the first year's work of its present term cf office to a general meeting of householders to be held tomorrow night. It is stated in the report that the matter of increased accommodation has been brought before the Education Board by the" committee, there are at present 632 pupils at the school, and the acpommodation 'in the upper division of the school is greatly overtaxed. Temporary accommodation has been found for 43 pupils at the Parish Hall, which, the report states, is regarded as an unsatisfactory arrangement. Plans are being; prepared, for an "additional building in the school grounds

The school, under the able headmastership of Mr. A. Henderson, has maintained its high, standard of scholastic efficiency (states the report). The teaching staff has been unsparing in its efforts to impart knowledge to the pupils under its care, with the result that children passing out of the sixth standard are fully equipped as far as primary education will permit.

Appreciation is expressed of the social committee's work and of assistance given in various directions.
