MAJOR C. K. GASQUOINE
The death occurred yesterday in Wellington of Major Charles Kimbell Gasquoine, of Nelson, aged 48. Major Gasquoine had a distinguished military career. He left with the 'Samoan Expeditionary Force as adjutant in 1914 as a member of the sth Wellington Regiment, and after the expedition he was promoted to the rank o£ captain in the First Battalion of the N.Z. Rifle Brigade. Major Gasquoine left New Zealand in October, 1915, and saw service in Egypt ■ against the Senussi, later proceeding to France with the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces in company with General Fulton and Major Purdie. He was promoted to the rank of major on the field, and was wounded at Messines in 1917, being invalided home. He is ■survived by a wife and two children.
