A THIEF TRAPPED
Stanislaus Smolkovski, twenty-year-old professional thief, crept at midnight recently into a circus at Myslowitz, Poland, near the German frontier, to steal the day's takings. He tip-toed past the tents and cages, but not quietly enough. As he felt his way in the dark along a lion's cage, he awoke the ]ion. A second later Smolkovski was crushed against the bars. His shrieks started the other animals in the circus roaring. Circus hands freed Smolkovski, who was taken to hospital.
