OLD GIRLS "COME OUT"

WELLINGTON COLLEGE DANCE

! Four ex-pupils of Wellington College made their debut at a ball given by the Old Girls' Association in St. Francis Hall last evening. The debutantes made a pretty picture as each one, in her dainty frock, curtseyed to the president of 'the association (Mrs. W. O. Urquhart), who wore a fullskirted frock of blue taffetas, shot with cerise, and to Miss V. M. Greig, headmistress of the college (in black lace, with touch of silver at the neckline), Miss Mary McLean, who wore a Marlborough blue lace frock, and Miss A. Batham (in a floral gold-threaded frock of crepe de chine). The Old Girls' Association presented those in the official party and also the "debs." with fragrant bouquets of early spring flowers.

The decorations in the hall were original, and had been particularly well arranged. A "window box" of orange Iceland poppies,- backed with flax, fronted the, stage, from whence an excellent orchestra played, and exists of greenery wreathed the walls and gallery. Streamers of the school colours, old gold and black, were arranged in the entrance 'hall arid upstairs lobbies, where the college crest was prominently displayed. Iceland poppies were used to decorate the supper room, and gold paper table napkins •set at each place served to heighten the atmosphere of gaiety. The debutantes, (who were presented early in the evening) were as follows:—Miss Gwen Earnshaw, presented by her mother, Mrs. D. A. Mrs. McGill-Nutt wore black y double ninon, with, a .black velvet jacket. Miss Dora Carter wore white crinkled ninon with an off-the-shoulder frill and gold, sequin studded shoulder straps, and was presented by her mother, Mrs. Carter, who was wearing saxe blue lace.

Stafford, wore a .dainty frock of shell pink taffeta, with a very full skirt trimmed with gold tinsel rosebuds, and an off-the-shoulder line. She carried a bouquet of pink cyclamen.
