Extensive Alterations.
Extensive alterations were commenced today at the Anglican Boys' Home, High Street, Lower Hutt. These have been made possible for the most part by the decision to enlarge the Masterton station, 'Sedgeley," for older boys, which will n6w accommodate thirty. The space set free by this arrangement in the Lower Hutt home will provide recreation and changing rooms for the reduced number there, and with other improvements in the grounds and gardens will go far towards making this an ideal home. . Part of the land, previously under crops, has been cleared and levelled by the enthusiastic work of the boys to form a playing field for cricket and football, and their recent long vacation has been well spent towards this end. "Toe H" has also given valuable assistance here, the work being supervised' and encouraged by the steward of the home, Mr T. Gifford, with the co-operation of the secretary, Mi\ Kempthorne. The grounds in front of the buildings have been partially cleared of trees and hydrangeas, cinerarias, and other flowering shrubs planted in their place should form a beautiful approach. An appeal is being made by the steward for plants to complete this ' undertaking. It is hoped to have the grounds ready by the time, the structural alterations are completed within the next two months.
