ENGLAND'S GREATNESS

VALUE OF TRADITION

CORONATION LESSON

(Received June 4, 1 p.m.)

LONDON, June 3,

The Duke of Kent, speaking at iht Salters' Company banquet, acclaimed the value of tradition as epitomised in the Coronation.

"In Westminster Abbey on May 12," he said, "I felt that the twentieth century had. slipped away and that medieval England had come :o life. It was a great encouragement to feel amid the unrest, difficulties, and problems of life today that there is a- solid tradition that made England great. If it has become fashionable to ridicule tradition and scoff at time-honoured customs, the scoffers have completely failed to understand that the real reason old-fashioned customs have survived is because they are probably the best."
