INFANTILE PARALYSIS
A CASE AT HAWARDEN
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
In spite of the fact that a further case of infantile paralysis was reported to the Health Department today, the statistics show clearly that the epidemic is waning fast, the reduction in the number of cases being particularly satisfactory as far as South Island notifications are concerned. For the week ended May 17 the South Island total was 15 cases; in the following week it dropped to ten, and for the week ended last Monday it was six. ' ■ The case notified today was that of a woman aged 25, who was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital from Hawarden.
A girl aged four years was admitted to the Wellington Hospital yesterday from Plimmerton suffering from infantile paralysis, without actual paralysis. This is the first case reported in Wellington since Saturday last. :
