TRAIN SERVICES

THE NEW TIME-TABLE

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

PALMERSTON N., This Day.

The need for maintaining alfast rail and mail connection between Palmerston North and the South Island was voiced at last evening's meeting of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce. It was pointed out that while it was the intention of the Department to provide a faster rail service, the new time-table revealed that the. trains would be leaving Wellington later. This meant that passengers by the inter-island express steamer service had to wait longer in Wellington. It was thought that at least one train in the morning should leave earlier and travel faster, and from the point of View of the rail service alone businessmen would be appreciative. . A letter is to be sent to the Department on the subject.
