Special forecast for Wellington:— Strong northerly winds reaching gale force at times, , Weather cloudy to overcast, with rain which will be heavy at times. The general forecast for the Dominion for the ensuing twenty-four hours, issued at noon today, is for north-east-erly to northerly winds. These wiE be moderate to strong generally and will reach gale force in places. Winds will back later to the south in the southern half of the South Island, and to the south-west in the northern portion of the North Island. The weather will be cloudy to overcast with general rain developing. Some heavy falls are probable especially in central md northern districts. Temperatures will be mild. ■.'■ , The recent anti-cyclone is now moving away eastward, and barometers are falling with the approach from the Tasman Sea of an extensive and rather deep depression. North-easterly to northerly winds have consequently freshened. Fair to cloudy and mild weather, was general yesterday, but cloud has gradually increased and this morning it was overcast,"almost generally. .-'■ Since last night light rains have fallen over most of the northern half of the North Island. Auckland's weather yesterday was mild and cloudy with but little wind. Since last night, however, a strong east-north-easterly has been blowing, and the weather this morning was squally iand showery. Wellington's weather was mostly dull and threatening, only 1.3 hours of bright sunshine being recorded, but it brightened somewhat in the afternoon. A moderate to strong and squally northerly wind prevailed. Christchurch had a calm and hazy morning, but the afternoon was mostly sunny with a north-easterly breeze. It was overcast there this morning and a gentle southerly was blowing. Dunedin had a dull day with a light north-easterly breeze, and the weather this morning was cloudy and hazy.
