BOXING AT TOWN HALL.

"Young" Gildo, the "Filipino Flash," conqueror of Midget Wolgast,. exflyweight champion of the world (now in the featherweight division), will meet Clarrie Rayner ' tomorrow night at the Town Hall'in a fifteen-round contest. The opportunity of seeing this brilliant exponent of boxing in action should not be missed- as he is booked in the near future for Australia, where, on the occasion of his last visit, he wrought havoc amongst the champions, ex-champions, and near-champions of the feather and lightweight classes. Boxing is the national sport in Manila, where one must have real class to reach the top of the ladder—and Gildo is undoubtedly on the topmost rung. Clarrie Rayner's abilities are beyond question, as he established his reputation in the eyes of Wellington patrons last season in his Stirring contests with Australian Joe Hall and Billy 'Aitken. Both men are reported to be tuned up to concert pitch, and a sterling contest should result.

The selected amateur preliminaries are:—T. Dunn (Moera)'v.-F. Finnegan (Parris); F. Martin (Cotterill's) v. J. Killehan (Newtown); H. .. Calder (Tracey's) v. J. Martin (Moera); A. Byrne (Moera) v. J. Parker (Newtown); P. Coburn (Moera) y. E. Foote (Newtown).
