WIDENING OF A LANE

The Petone Borough Solicitors, Messrs. Meek, Kirk, and Co., suggested to the council at its meeting on Monday that it should take steps to have Scholes Lane exempted from the street widening provision of the Public Works Act, 1928. Scholes Lane is a narrow thoroughfare running parallel to and between Nelson and Richmond Streets, giving back access to the sections which front these streets. Councillor E. T. E. Hogg said that while probably there would be no objection to this course the question should be investigated with a view to the possibility that a future council might wish io widen the lane. On his motion it was decided to refer the matter to the works committee.
