ITALIAN CULTURAL CLUB

The Italian Cultural Club held its usual fortnightly - meeting in the I Lyceum Club rooms last Thursday evening, a large number of members and visitors being present. Sig O. Carraro presided. . Instruction in the Italian language was given to the junior students' class by Professor E. J. BoydrWilson; while Sig. V. A. Truda conducted the senior class.,

The opening item of the evening's programme was an operatic solo, "Vissi d'arte,"froni "La Tosca" (Puccini), followed by "Vorrei" (Tosti), both numbers being rendered by Mrs M. Cable. An Italian comedy was then presented entitled "La Catena d'oro," by Silvio Zambaldi. Those taking part were Mr. S.,;Burch (Gaspare), Miss F. Huntingdon (Lisetta), and Mrs Barsi (La Pettinatrice).. The presentation of the play, which was in the hands of Miss Huntingdon, gave much pleasure to the audience.

The final musical item of the concert was "Caro mio ben" (GiordanO, sung by Mrs. Anderson. The accompanist for the evening was Signora A. Comparini. The singing of "Giovinezza" and the National Anthem brought-the meeting to a close. Supper was served.
