GOVERNMENT AND DEMOCRACY.

Mr. W. Noel Pharazyn bddressed a large audience... at the Wellington Theosophical Society's Hall on ■ Sunday evening on "Government and Democracy." '•:,-.

Mr. Pharazyn surveyed . the New Zealand Governments as far back as the days of Richard John Seddon, pointing out the significant achievements -of each successive party in power, -and their effect on conditions in New Zealand today. •

State control of finance and industry, both actual and potential, was discussed, and comparisons made between systems in New Zealand and those in operation in other parts of the world.

People must educate themselves to recognise purpose in Government. Universal knowledge of political economy' would mean an enlightened proletariat who would not only demand suitable social conditions, but would Have sufficient intelligence to create and sustain them.
