THEFTS BY GIRL
DETENTION ORDERED (Special to tha "Evening Post.") . PALMERSTON N., This Day. A girl who stole a pearl ring from the,woman who had amployed her a short time : before appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Palmerston: North Magistrate's Court yesterday. She was Gwenda Doris Emberson, aged 18, and in addition to the tlieft of the ring she was charged with stealing a suitcase, a frock, two pairs of shoes, .a torch,.and £5 in money. Detective -Power said that all but the money had been recovered. Last week at Dannevirke the accused had been convicted for the theft of a wristlet watch from her own sister. Commenting that it was difficult to know what best to do, the Magistrate ordered detention for 12 months in a reformative institution.
